3000 calories burnt wow, and on you'r kickr i bet your legs feel like lead.

It's a very long time since I've burnt that many calories in a session. My legs were like jelly getting to the bath. My next stage is to do this ride back to back for 2 days. Once I can do that and not feel knackered, I will be ready for Tenerife

Andy,
Your ride reminded me of a ride I did from Bourgeois st Maurice to the top of Col d'Iseran 4 years ago. Apart from a flattish bit pretty much up all the way for 29 miles. I have tried to copy and paste from strava but comes over in a strange format. It was a fantastic but utterly exhausting ride because it was pretty much relentless but the views at the top and the ride back down even for a wuss like me made it all worthwhile.

Those are ballpark stats to Mt Teide,. My moving time 3hrs 25 for 30 something miles about 9mph. My power is greater, but I bet my W/kg will be much worse than yours. My average speed is slightly skewed because of the descending into the crater.

I know it's a monster hill but I would be interested in someone else having a go who is more suited/built for climbs. Just to give me an idea if some of the other Tenerife chaps are Quintana look alikes. I don't want to blow up trying to match a pure climbers pace

I think power will always be lower in real life because you don't want to over cook or at least I had been warned not to so you go at a pace that suits and is not too demanding. We can always get off the turbo!
My W/kg would have been somewhere in region of 2-2.5 -I think I was 80kilos then.

I will do it. Bsim so hard now as you know and to add insult to injury I am faster on the NEO above 8% in Zwift than I was on the bkool which is kind of strange.

Plus to need to leave something in the legs to get back to the hotel from the far side of the mountain.

This is someone from my cycling club who has done it, I think they stopped a couple of times for food / views etc..

I'd like to have a go at this but it's whether I can get the time. 3+ hours on the turbo might not go down too well... I wouldn't worry too much about other people's times Andy. If you challenge your own ghost I bet you go faster and faster every time you do it as your confidence and knowledge of the route grows. I think on climbs it's much better to work to a tempo that suits you rather than trying to match others.

:rofl::rofl: Just joined my brother on his first session. A 3 mile or so, flatish session, 50m of climbing. He said to his son look at this fat f***er thats just gone by my.

 the after effects were not pleasant for him, xx(.

To paraphrase, 'F U and stay away from me':rofl:

He's already asked about what to do for the next session :bicycle::laugh:

Not sure you won't ever feel knackered doing it on the turbo Andy. It's not as if you have the reward of exhilarating views and the ride back down to hide the pain!

I know there are going to be breaks for rest and refreshments, so that will allow me to recharge a little. I just like to be as best prepared, makes it nicer when it's a little easier
