The first half I was mentally composing a complaint to the rules committee about new chain and new pedals. I was pushing as hard as I could to keep up with you. Breedon and Berty were just taunting me.At the end I tried a big push to gain on Rod but he finished really strong. On the plus side Bkool raised my heart rate zones. My new max is 193

OMG... 193.. xx(

Thanks AAAC. That was my strongest ride for a while so at least you didn't have to wait so long for me this time. Sorry about the long wait near the end where I was in the wrong gear hitting that hill and my chain was just slipping round and refusing to engage any gear at all. Felt a lot stronger that Thursday for some reason.

Guessed you were going well, I was tiring until then I having a job to keep ahead of you.
How did you find those dead stops. Did you try not pedalling when you were locked in one.
I didn't and although you can't get out of it any faster you don't waste any energy and I think the resistance backs off if you do that so you can fly out of them a bit like the old on/off tactic.

Actually in hindsight I'm quite glad I couldn't see you as I probably pushed a bit harder than I should have as it was, and I would probably have been tempted to try and stay with you if you'd been in my sights!

Bridgy, I dropped back to draft you back on, don't say you didn't see me on the leader board?
No wonder you didn't appear to be reacting!

Ah no, sorry AAAC after re-joining having lost connection briefly I couldn't see you at all - either on leaderboard or on screen! Thanks though!

I tried this but I misjudged it. My watts went to zero and I got the do you want to quit screen.

Yeah, I tried all kinds of things this time with the dead stops after what you said about them on Thursday. The powering in hard then freewheeling seemed a good option because as you said, once it dead stops, it speeds up again to a reasonable speed before slowing again. Trouble is having to change down quickly after the powering bit or you end up in too high a gear after the free speed is over. That's what happened to me when my chain was just slipping round. I also like the option of building up maximum speed before the gradient then freewheel and get changed down before the dead stop happens as that seems to work quite well too but without the gear changing problems. I think you've got it figured a bit better than me as you often seem to speed past after the dead stop. It'll take some practice to get optimised.

Don't worry too much about timing TT, power into the dead stop if you want but once your in it stop pedalling, it's pointless you get nothing back.
You will find the Sim progresses you regardless and if the power has dropped of so does the resistance.
I think watching myself an Bill we always dead stopped in a slightly different position but it doesn't seem to matter so don't panic if your at the back.
Once you sense it has let you go stamp on the power again but like Bill says knock it down to a gear appropriate for the incline during your freewheel.
Luck for me I have a 32 cog on the back so my 50/32 works up to the 10% resistance limit any way so i just slam it into first during the freewheel.

Note when I say freewheel really power off but still rotate the pedals slowly so you don't get the quit message.
