All I could do was to try to follow the trail of burnt electrons. Will sneak in a recovery ride in the morning to see if I can get back on track. One of these days I'll hopefully not get dropped in the early bits.

Yeah that was some avg HR @shimceltic . Thought my 158 was enough to give a cardiologist palpitations.

I thought it would get lower as I got faster. Just seems like it stays high and I suffer. I gauge efforts on the hr so when it's hitting 180 I have to back off. The legs thank me and tonight stage with downhill give me enough recovery before the next high HR effort.

I try to keep mine under 170 when chasing you guys, max out at around 184ish in sprints. Interesting to note that @Barbes66 and I run faster rpms and are lighter(I think). I'm working on mostly staying in the saddle on steep climbs, but prefer to stand and stamp out bigger watts, unfortunately heart rate goes up by 10 bpm no matter how still I keep my body when out of the saddle.

I think my higher RPM was maybe due to switching to the intermediate gearing setting. But I biked into town earlier today so more tired than usual and maybe spinning an easier gear. Dunno.
