ShimCeltic has flushed me out of the shadows: I’ve missed you guys and hope to be back home and in my bike shed mid November. In the meantime I’ll copy and paste the email I sent to Shim.
What really happened
My wife said you were inquiring about me.
I've been putting in time on a spin bike in the gym of this apartment building in Seattle. My doc says we have to stay nearby for 3-6 months. So the reason for the Seattle stay.
I've been lurking on the cyclechat site and checking the league. Craig in front but you and Tommy didn't have real times.
I guess I better come out of the shadows and post something.
Here is what I sent:
Me: Doctor I’m sick of losing to ShimCeltic by quite a ways I have to do something. What’s the most drastic thing I can do.
Doctor: well, if you’re serious, there is one thing we can do it’s the same thing I lost my license over. We can put in a better heart it’ll give you much more power and you’ll be able to beat ShimCeltic. You’ll have to come up with a fake excuse on why you need a new heart I’m suggesting you say you were riding in Norway, and had a heart attack that should cover us again this this has to be a secret and no one should know the reason that you had a new heart is to beat ShimCeltic.
Seriously:
Today is 2nd month. The whole process has been surreal. I spent a long time dealing with issues that kept me from being “listed” like a side effect of the extreme blood thinners that were needed for a crazy new pump they put in your heart to keep me alive until transplant caused a hematoma that had to be operated on.si 37 days of flat on my back. Once I was listed on August 8th and had a donor on the 12th.
It is now my job to build back up all the muscle I lost. It seems like I lost all of it! So a slow recovery. But my cardiologist said I’ll be back in the bike in a few months. Then look out!! New knee and new heart just like “the 6 million dollar man!
It sounds morbid but one nurse said the reason I got a donor so fast is in summer there is a “hold my beer” phenomenon where people do stupid stuff.
The very weird thing is the heart rate comes from the new hart and in was in the low 70s so he or she must have been in good shape.
I hope everyone and their families are doing well.

I thought you had come up with an elaborate ploy to feast on Nordic pastry for an extended period. Glad to hear you given the reaper the finger and are on the mend. All the best from me and my better half. Also kudos to your wife for what I expect was a pretty grueling period as well.

Fantastic to hear from you @Randyberlin and well done on your progress to date. The only thing is you probably didn't actually need a new heart to beat @shimceltic this year as his new thing is to hurl abuse from the sidelines
