Sounds like the magnet carrier drive screw is fecked. I had a similar sound when mine went. Remove the shell and see what it looks like only 6 philips screws
That's what @Randyberlin's Pro sounds like when he uses his drill to beat me and leaves it on Hammer action setting..

I agree with @theboxers . I had a similar problem and found the brass shaft on the stepper motor was worn so the magnets couldn't find home. I replaced my trainer because the shipping to be repaired was more than 1\2 of the cost of a new one. However a fix that will keep it going is to superglue a thin nut with the same threads on the end of the magnet carrier. The new nut will engage threads in a different spot on the shaft and move the magnets where they belong. It worked on my old unit.

Great ride @perswe you smashed it. Sorry for not coming through @BILL S after hard rides itrw last night and this morning I thought I'd just be making up the numbers tonight. I knew I'd only get one go at he sprint so had to leave it late and make it stick. Nice game of cat and mouse on the climb me closing on the steeper climbs and then you pulling away whenever it eased up a bit. Per's ghost will take some holdingSlightly more left in your tank than mine. Well done you two.
