So sorry to hear that Randy, bloody toe rags,. I hope you had your kit removed from bike. Are you able to get another bike, purchase/hire?
I hope it doesn't taint your opinion of the Scots too punch. I know they're are more penny pinching than Yorkshire folk. Probably why Yorkshire folk move up there, they are regarded as flash throwing there cash around.

Thanks. I’m checking my options. I grabbed my bag and the ELEMNT in case some one stole it. Waiting for the police. The weird part is this is an enclosed parking lot. There is a bike thrown in the bushes nearby so I think they ride up cut the cable and rode off on mine.

Really gutted for you, what a bunch of f*****s.
I guess it's a dilemma/trade off knowing how big and heavy a lock to take when you're touring and trying to keep weight down generally. Also, first day in one of the "big" cities I suppose - suddenly crime possibilities shoot up. Still really bad luck for you though - absolute scumbags! Let us know how you get on - hoping something can be sorted quickly through insurance.....

@Randyberlin So sorry to hear about that. It's really bad for bike theft in the UK these days but I didn't think it would be like that up North. You're more than welcome to borrow one of my bikes for the rest of your trip and the DD but you're rather far away from right now. I can definitely bring both bikes to Wales if that helps any.

Hopefully you are insured and that can be sorted quickly. There is. A great bike shop in the city called Edinburgh bicycle co op who especially cater for tourers.

Feeling terrible for you Randy. If there's no other way of getting you back on a bike (and I wouldn't blame you if you just wanted to call it a day and jump on the plane home) there's a bike hire company in Leith, Edinburgh who rent out bikes with panniers for £80/week or £70/week for 2 weeks
