My time was 34:21. In hindsight, going straight from the dinner table out on the trainer, was probably not the smartest move. Thursday's race at 5 pm should be better, I hope.
Only a smidge faster than me ... that surprises me. I'd had thought a ride like that you'd blow me away. Maybe on Thursday when better prepared you get closer to 31/32 mins :okay: I'd be happy with anything starting with a 33, but I'm not sure I could manage that

Also forgot to say I lost 15 seconds or so due to dropping my chain and having to put it back on. Very frustrating :banghead:

Apparently Chris Hoy thinks no one over 8 stone should wear lycra. Well, that's leaves only @berty bassett wearing lycra on here and the rest of us wearing baggy sweat shirts and tracky bottoms :banghead:

As much as I respect what the likes of Hoy have achieved in the sport, sometimes they need to think before they speak

Is that why he quit competitive cycling, because he was too fat for the uniform!

Just realised.
Froome must be a bit disappointed having to give up one of his 3 Jerseys today.
Means he can get away from the podium earlier though.
He must be getting hot wearing all those layers!

Best of the real virtual contenders in SC9 Bridgy.

I thought I was having a BKool gift in SC8 as I lead the field into the descent and then two came by me and then Pep who just rode of away from us all.
I wrestled with the other two a bit, clawing back on the climbs and then too knackered to follow on the descents.
Cesar disappeared a bit into the distance as well but I was keeping tabs with Aras.
I had one eye on Jacobs position but I thought I had a comfortable margin going into the final climb so I was (and I say was) taking it at a pace so that I could follow the efforts of Aras on the final descent and then, bang, Jacob's ghost was on my wheel so I had to give it my all to get some room before going downhill to the finish.
Either he was bushed and did not attack the finish or he was comfortable with his time as I just beat him and Aras to the line just to find that they must have started 2 seconds after me.

Peche!

Bridgy is leading the 'normal' 9'ers and me the 8'ers.
I think I am going to hate all that descending in Stage 9.
I need to go back to my spinning training on my favourite 'Descenso Col de la Bonette'
