I stayed with you both until 8k to go then lost contact. Was really strange riding with aaac's ghost ..... Easy to stay with on positive gradients, but as soon as it went +1% plus he flew. Couldn't draft him as I was either shooting past him, or having to ride like a nutter to get back to him! Good fun though

My thoughts exactly. Good fun but bloody hard to draft AAAC's ghost. Every time I got tucked in behind, he slowed and I shot past him. Far easier to draft him live (if he'll let you of course).

Unfortunately I'll not be home tomorrow in time for the re-run so can someone else please start it?

It is my intention to partake so I will volunteer and will confirm 30 minutes before the start here.

I've had hayfever all my life. Never been a big problem until this year. Doc thinks its linked to the asthma. As for age, I'm a young, for bkool, 47. But fitter than I've been for 20 years thanks to all this cycling :bicycle:

I think I can remember 47, how about you Jim, do you remember those years as you flew toward 50 thinking that was old.
At least at 50 everything pointed the right way in the morning and going to bed meant a full 8 hours on the mattress and wasn't punctuated with multiple trips across the landing.
Perhaps that's what's been keeping me BKool fit.
Well it's all downhill from here then now I've discovered TP Maxi's!

Nostalgic wibbly wobbly moment.... looking back..... going further back.. nup - it's all just a blank.. can't remember much at all. Beer n skittles I'm afraid.

I've cycled 'proper' for almost 40 years but during the early black & white days, it was always because I had to - these days it's because I want to. I wish.... oh here we go.... No I wish, I'd had this enthusiasm then..

I'm up at 5am on a Saturday to go cycling.. As HID says.. "you're bloody mad".. as for 47 - I'm closer to 57 than that...

Have a lovely day .. :bicycle:

I've cycled 'seriously' for the time I've been on bkool. Up until then I commuted on and off in London for a few years.

At 47 I feel younger than I did in my 30s. Back then I was drinking a lot (working in the city is not good on the health) and was 16 stone. I still need to lose weight but at least now I can get clothes that fit from next

So desperate to keep my fitness up as enjoying myself at the moment, and don't want to slip back into my old ways!

I had a go at the The Pru - a pathetic go.. the first 50 mile gradients were absolutely ridiculous- by the time I got into Surrey, I'd had enough. I don't know if it was a poor recording/gpx or whether there are a staggering amount of hills between 10 & 26%? And that's before you get to the Surrey Hills... one minute I'm cycling along at 2% then bang.. 18%.. a proper gear grinder..

I'll get mi coat..

I'll upload to strava and it will link to Bkool, i think:wacko:

Cheers Andy.. it was all planned out, do a century on Bkool - I just couldn't turn the pedals anymore and I was only half way.. according to the stats over 4000ft climbing even before the real climbing started.. very dodgy version me thinks.. all very demoralising..

As I said before age is just a measurement of time not life.
Fact is once your 41 your closer to 50 than 40 as you can never get back to 40 again.
I'm as fit as I was when I was 35 years of age but now my heart works better, not as fast in BPM but is much more up to the job in hand (indoor cycling).
I have no doubt that if you plonked me on a bike with 2 wheels, and brakes, and asked me to cycle 100 miles in the elements I would crack at 50 or before
God willing, when I retire I will buy me a bike with the intent of going out on the, by then, super highways for bicycles and all the cars will be driverless and stuck on specific routes rattling along a a sedate 60 mph with the occupants bored to tears or watching infotainment as if they were on a plane.

I heard it here first.. I also like your fact.

HID is away for the weekend, I've cycled, I've eaten - there is only one thing left to do on this most miserable of Saturdays..

I look forward to doing nothing..

:hello:
