Yeah cracking start!

I love the Giro. Always seems much more chaotic than the TDF. A work colleague was meant to be over in Sardinia for the first few stages but the missus pulled rank with some last minute family commitment... gutted.

Anyone gonna pick someone other than Quintana for the GC?

GT for the win. And if not him then Quintana. Really Looking forward to surges and tussles in the mountains.

Are you saying that on one cycle of switching the magnets travelled to and fro several times?

It seems normal for the magnets to motor to about 1/2 inch in on turbo switch on.
If you switch it off and on again the magnets will cycle back to the mini position then back to the 1/3 inch position, I assume that this is a BIT (built in test) cycle to confirm the stepper is working and the magnets are not stuck on the mini stop.

When you join a session they will motor back to the min stop.

If the magnets keep cycling it could bee failing the BIT but I can't think why if its not getting jammed on the min stop.

What has been seen by others is when the magnets get close to the conductive ring on the flywheel they don't move back because either the thread is worn or the stepper is too weak to overcome the magnetic force but yours seem to be working fine.

Trying to use the Trainer on another a system seems a good idea or you could try the new BKool phone app which runs basic interval sessions and the like direct with the trainers sans internet connection.

One stupid thing is to make sure the trainer is paired still, especially if you have a cadence sensor as it might be assuming you have a dumb trainer.

AC - your the man, went onto Bsim and its sorted itself. I loaded up a route with lots of ups & downs and the resistance was working for the ups & eased off on the downs. Went back into Zwift to see if it worked on their software and it was working again.

Thank you all for the advice.

Oh no, he wasn't caught in the crash just before the 3km safety zone ?

I don't think he's injured but got stuck behind the crash and lost 13 seconds. Shouldn't make much difference in the grand scheme of things but shows why lots of the teams push their GC contenders to near front of the pack in the final km's. Often to the consternation of the sprinters

Shimano SPD M520 pedals. I've always suffered with squeaking or clicking pedals after a few months of use, I buy another pair.

My Tripster yesterday started to click alot. I thought it was the BB, so stripped it down and applied new grease-not that.

Pedals removed and began strip down(very easy to do, pipe grips and vice). Applied new grease to bearings and put alot into the carrier. As I wound the bearing assembly back into pedal, grease began to ooze out of the pedal from every gap. Tightened up, now the pedal slowly turns fully packed with grease. No more clicks or squeaks. ^_^

Heart rate of Pros. Watching the Giro, and a comparison came up between a sprinter and a lightweight climber whilst going up a climb, not flat out but pushing on. The sprinter 173bpm the climber 130bpm. Clearly demonstrates the extra effort heavier riders have to put in to stay with a climber, even when it's only a small difference in kilos for the pro's

Nice 1 those little creaks can be bloody annoying!

I've had a few creaking issues myself, and not just my joints... I thought it was the bb at first but then I noticed I was getting brake rub when I was out of the saddle so think it's just the bearings in my rear hub. I've had a real ordeal trying to source new bearings. Zipp have changed their hubs so many times due to being a bit crap, they're a bit of a bugger to pin down. We're going away next week so it's put a bit of a spanner in the works for DD. I have other wheels so it's not the end of the world but I don't really fancy going up and down mountains on 58mm rims if I can help it! Hopefully they turn up in the next few days.
