I have to say that if I'd spent all those hard earned Bkool points on a lovely Batman skin suit, gone in the velodrome to show it off, I would have been very disappointed.. ,whilst I was in there earlier warming up, I was cycling round with a number of bikes with floating helmets... nothing else... no fancy suits, no colour coordinated shorts... just ghost bikes... n floating helmets..
Bkool gone n done it again...
I was going to ask you the self same thing.
I joined the drome to warm up and there were several riderless bikes riding around the track with headless helmets floating above them.
So much for BETA testing!
I then did stage 8 again. I was quite happy, all be it exhausted averaging 430 watts all the way up the 10% plus climbs and then riding in the last km or so at 460 watts.
All that to gain a minute on my old time done when I had already done a Chaingang.
My time of 25 minutes was absolutely destroyed by Pep so I looked at his stats.
For those that have done this stage you will know it's a relentless uphill from km 3.8 of 8.6.
During Pep's winning ride of 19:48 he manged to kit speeds of 68, 72 , 67, 72 and 78 kph for short sections of the final 2.6 km
This was over twice the speed I was managing at 450 to 460 watts
That said he was averaging a steady 100 watts above my steady climb power which gave him almost 5 kph more so its no surprise he bested me but those short periods of speed that exceeded what you could do on the flat would have had a huge impact on his total time even though it was only over about 800 meters but that is almost a tenth of the whole course and 0.15 of the total climb.
In summary I lost and it's not fair!!!!
