Stewart,
Time to change your name and avatar.

Twice I decided to push to try and gain but you gained steadily the whole race. Then the sweede kept at it with me and we finished 1 second apart way behind you.
Sat on the line fully expecting to be to be having a battle with you or just sat on your wheel must have just had a good ride as you and I are pretty evenly matched.

interesting that bill about the warmer weather cos last august September I was avg 250+ watts in the depth of winter I was struggling to get near 200 watts now its warmer its about 220 to 230 watts my turbo is in my garage which gets very cold in winter and very hot in summer I just thought it was me losing fitness of bkool updates
I'm not sure if the turbo units are affected or not but a quick google seems to imply that magnets become weaker as they warm up an stronger as they cool down. Heated up enough and they will lose all their magnetic power and cooled back down they will regain all their original power.

Well I might complete a whole ride with you one of these days!

Today it was a case of my own sweat dripping onto my android phone - it is mounted on my bike running bsim (mirrored to a tv) this caused it to mess up a bit before disconnecting :cursing:

I then spent 10 mins tinkering with my setup (I still seem to only be able to use HRM or cadence, not both) before joining another ride for an hour.

I may try today's ride again tomorrow (if that makes sense ^_^)

However, to counter that point metal expands when warmer which would move it closer to the magnetic and cause greater resistance!

I never attacked you AAAC. I was just trying to ride with you. As the slower rider I did sometimes pass you with the intent of building up as much momentum as possible to help with the hills.

You shot past me in the latter part and I really had to dig in to get you back, form there on I was racing.
I to had some super powers today, we quickly took 1.5 minutes out of Bridgy but the gap never changed much after that.

That was hard work, I couldn't get mu heart rate going to start with so my legs were feeling heavy from quite early in. It wasn't until I had to chase you back that the BPM picked up and the legs stopped complaining quite so much.
Ride still grey by the way.

But it also means the roller/flywheel spindle is expanding as well thus moving the conductive disc away from the magnets which would counter the expansion of the flywheel but not the magnets.
I can remember if the braking effect increase with heat (i.e more conductive resistance).
Probably best not to get too deep on a Saturday night, it will make your brain hurt and waste relaxation time.

The metal would expand in all directions! There is a plastic fan inside to cool the metal disc down I assume to ensure that it does not get too hot to avoid expansion...

I was very surprised the way that race went, mostly because Bridgy was quite a bit stronger than me on Thursday but tonight we pulled away from him fast at the start. My power reading was a good 40 watts higher tonight for some reason and this was apparent during the warmup as well as the race. My plan was to just stay on your tail as long as possible and I only expected that to last until we got to the big hill at the most, not that I'd have stayed with you after any of those hills if you hadn't waited.
