But then how do you know who you are riding with? So if TB, Soarev, Jim and I start a gentle spin through zwift world, how do we stay together if you either have to select your course enroute or it auto selects for you?
If you're riding Watopia route, you will ride the whole course if you do nothing to alter the route

Sigh....... Categories only go as low as E. Just saying.
Soarerv8, my recollection is that we were often pushing each other, I'd bet you'd slot into the C or D races just fine. Give 'em a try. The worst that happens is you go over on the watts/kg and your results aren't counted.

I would suggest ignoring your FTP, but instead determine the watts/kg you're likely to sustain for the given course. I do a hell of a lot better on flats or slight inclines, so I race C for those. If they're going to do a big climb, I'll drop down to D.

There's a drop down menu, say on Watopia, for the 5 routes, and you decide what you will ride if free riding so you will always turn at the right points. If someone starts late but the others are down as friends the they will appear top of list of riders on course and you click on their name and hey presto, you join them. Did it to breedon and gave him a right scare up box hill. He had to pedal harder:laugh: Be careful though because at the moment joining them after ride started means you won't be auto directed so just tuck in behind at junctions and choose the correct turn using keyboard. Even if you do take the wrong turn there is a key/button to reverse and then make the correct turn.

I've just done another ride on Zwift but it hasn't warmed me to it any further. The graphics may be more detailed than bkool but I wouldn't say more pleasing. The riders don't look as good and the female riders definitely don't look as good. The feel is less realistic IMO and the position indicator is rubbish compared to bkools even if it does show more riders than bkools. The profile indicator is poor compared to bkools and you really don't know where you are or what is coming up. I do like the squawking though. When you ride close to the sea you hear a lot of seagull squawking which is a nice touch.
So even if I were to spend £1000 on a Neo or Kickr or £500 on a power meter I'm pretty sure I'll still want to do my serious rides on Bkool. I'm therefore not going to pay $10/month for Zwift, which is actually more expensive than bkool by a £ or two.

That's a shame Bill, at least you gave it go. I do like bkool's profile graph and position indicator. I prefer Zwifts accuracy, super smooth rolling into gradient transitions, graphics, and hourly events.

I'm sticking with it, and will keep you all updated of my exploits :okay:
