Will you be re-activating the mountain stages again Bill? Maybe add that Japan ride we did back in December, if I remember that was a pretty tough climb as well!

AS far as I know the mountain stages are onto the 4th of 4 and I'll be starting a new one when this first one is complete. I had a quick look at the league yesterday and everyones rides seemed to have shown up all by themselves as nothing was there needing to be approved.

I think Kipster has been very effectively keeping us all in our places the last few rides ... :surrender:

If you ever manage to get a ride or two to upload that would help as well ...

Fingers crossed that my ride loading problem is over but maybe find out tonight. Might be on Pla de Beret too

Looking forward to getting involved in the new league

Re: my earlier post
Well Bkool were quick replying for a change, the last 2 runs I have uploaded did not change my fitness rating, on asking them why they said it was more or less my fault for not uploading it as a run!, to which I gave them a roasting on the fact it was their end that was at fault etc etc. Sent them a link to the session to show it was a run and sent them the FIT file to look at and got this reply.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your message. Sorry, you're right. There is a bug that will be fixed in our next website release (February).

See you at Bkool,

Bkool Team.

So how many more BUGS are there I wonder hmmm?

Maybe all the problems with everyone's uploads is one of the bugs that have to be corrected in February? maybe...

I'll be doing Pla de Beret at the weekend. As I missed Mont Ventoux, I'm right down the rankings in the league.

20 mins @ 80% FTP? What is the point, 80% is tempo.... you should be able to hold that for hours. As a triathlete maybe you don't press on as much as a pure cyclist in the bike leg being that you need to run afterwards, but a reasonably good, pure cyclist would ride a 100 mile TT at over 80% FTP. If your aim is to increase FTP by doing short sessions of around 1 hour, you are going to be looking at doing the 20 minutes at somewhere between 90-105% FTP.

Just did my first session on alp de huez, is it wrong i enjoyed it???

Did 20 mins around 220w, 10 mins areound 160, 20 mins around 220, 5 mins around 160, 10 mins around 220 the rest slow to finish.

My legs where burning toward the end of the 20 mins at 220 my heart rate was around 165-175. Once i slowed to around 160 it eased to around 135-140 and my legs felt good.

Will a BKool cadence sensor work with the Pro? I know they say it doesn't need one, but I want a more accurate cadence reading, than the Pro's present guesstimate!

Thanks Richy. It was an awesome weeknd and I ended up 13th out of 92 solo riders. I was a broken man by the end though and it took some time to recover. I set out fast and I couldn't believe the extra speed I had over last few years attempts so the Bkool has definitely done its job. What I couldn't do much about however was the way my hands started hurting with all the jolting around. That started around 6 hours in so slowed me a lot. Fell off a few times as control and visibility got much worse. Nearly gave up about 19 hours in. Had to stop for a couple of hours but then kept going. So yeah its quite an experience. Must try for top 10 next year.
Sounds like bkool helped you out, sounds like you had to dig very very deep, did you have a strategy for refuelling and hydration ?, have you got another event to train for now?

Well every minute of that was a struggle, I just felt completely lacking in energy!

I think I was a little dehydrated before starting, and a seriously stuck dropped chain about 7 minutes after setting off didn't help, as I had to adjust the chain catcher to free it and then start the ride again, by which time I is was no longer warmed up.

Thanks to Kipster for the encouragement, quite an interesting end to a long climb, a bit too far for a sprint, not downhill enough to freewheel, so just flat out for the last minute or so.

I think I may have to try that again, when I'm feeling a bit more energetic. I hope I'm up for tomorrows group ride ...
