Dear User:
The new update of your trainer's firmware is available. We recommend that you run the update to improve your user experience with regards to the aspects indicated here:
• Generating a more stable speed.
• Obtaining a more stable output.
• Adjustments in the calculation of your cadence.

• The "1000w problem" has been solved.*
* Only occurs on some trainers.
When you update the firmware the trainer needs to be as close as possible to the ANT+ antenna (one meter, approx.) If you use an extension cable it will be even easier.

^^ How about we make that into a League and do one a week starting next year some time?

That occurred to me too, as I posted it. Some of the runs are quite short, so probably best as a "you've got all week to have a go" league rather than a group run?

I could start a "climbing 100 league?"
Only problem is, I'm a bit crap at steep climbs! :banghead:

Is it the velodrome tonight chaps? In the League it says it starts tomorrow although I might just be confused because that might be when individual runs start.

Same as last week? Geoff starts the session and we all look for it in LIVE from 7pm to 7.10 ?

They don't seem to have noticed today is the 18th not the 17th, probably a Spanish thing ... (mañana)

7pm Tonight is the plan, assuming Bkool plays along. I can start the session as close to 7:00pm as possible, then you have until the 10 minute warm-up is done to join.

Then it's 30 minutes of laps, or until you get bored or lapped so many times you lose the will to live! xx(

Thanks for that. In my case disconnecting the unit and taking it downstairs will hopefully do the job.

You can have me as a target, last night I did 100 laps in 35 minutes and 13 seconds, which I think works out at 84.5 laps in 30 minutes. Average lap time was 21.3 seconds, average speed just over 26mph. This was intervals so 'not on it' 100% of the time and only a couple of people to draft.

As some of you are watt monsters I may not be anywhere near enough of a target, and look forward to being comprehensively thrashed!

I have done Haytor Vale earlier this year managed it in 29:03

That's good, a little quicker than our time. We did it just before the Tour of Britain, and stayed at the top to watch them come through.

It was very strange panting up the climb with thousands of people watching and the odd group applauding us.

We kept getting overtaken by people who looked to be in their 70's, I had to keep telling myself to go at my own pace or I wouldn't make it to the top. One or two of them did come back to us after a little while, which was satisfying.

The trip down the other side was very exciting, with several hundred other cyclists, especially when it got up near 50mph.

If the Tour of Britain do it again in 2015, I expect we'll have another go up it in September, or I may drive down to grab a video of the climb for BKool (unless you fancy doing one?)

Hello

New to CC and BKool Would it be possible to join the League online?

My understanding is that Watts is just a combination of speed and resistance, nothing more. Cadence is not relevant.

The simulator may set the resistance based on programmed gradient, wind, weight, etc. but the actual Watts calculation just involves the applied resistance and the speed maintained against that resistance.

From comments here, it appears that with the Pro without a cadence sensor the Cadence is "approximated" by looking at the way power is applied and I guess assuming the peaks in power are as the left and right legs push downwards, thereby giving a cadence set by every second power peak. This must be a poor approximation, as power is constantly varying anyway and the figures people see are way out. A cheap cadence sensor is a must if you want to see your cadence.

I really like the Garmin magnet less one, it just wraps around your crank arm and works great. No need to worry about fixing a sensor to your frame and a magnet to the crank, just hook the elastic around the crank and go ...

Sorry you can't make the Velodrome, see you (your avatar) next Tuesday.

I just hope it lets us all in this time.

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I purchased a pro just 2 weeks ago and have had 3 go's so far- it's not the most user-friendly interface I've got to say! I seem to have had a reasonably common problem in that i get very high cadence readings ( 130 average, or even more, when realistically it should be nearer 80-90) and more worryingly low wattage readings. I haven't read the whole thread ( 128 pages!) but I saw this, could be useful, I will try the usb extension lead thingy and see if that resolves the issues. Just to be clear, I just need a cable to run from my laptop to the ant +, just a straightforward USB to USB cable? presumably available at all currys/whichever franchise?
I hope to join the forum leagues after the crimbo break

Find the Groups on the Share tab in Bkool and join the ones you want.

If you join the Thursday Night CC Group, please let us know here what your Bkool nickname is, so we can accept your application.

As it is for organising group multiplayer rides, we are trying to keep the membership to CC members that can be contacted here.

We have an application waiting on Bkool from Alex Forrest, please can Alex confirm his nickname here so we can tie the memberships together.

Thanks,

Geoff

Never done a velodrome session before, but can you easily tell what position you are in? And can you tell what position other people are in, or how many laps they have done?

Reply alex Forrest is me nickname her us Dorego

Cheers

Also firmware update keeps timing out from pc to trainer. Have tried the ant+ with usb extension and without. From various different distances with no joy. Anyone else having issues?

You just look on the left as per usual Add, the players are listed as to their position, as for laps I have only done 1 Velo before and didn't take any notice.

@johnny2names do the firmware update released yesterday (v3.30), it fixes the cadence. It may also have fixed the watts issue, but that could've been the USB extension as well.
