Gutter strawbs not working..
usual 'shamrock tub' has some juicy looking specimens....
must research what's more suitable before next year....
little gem lettuce growing well in one gutter end....
spud bag and runner beans growing well..
and a sole green pepper.

we'll just blame the wx
Young 'un hopefully giving it big Zs.
I will soon, I think...
Deep enough soil for a decent root system?
And you've managed to keep your hands off them so far? Shamrocks are supposed to be lucky anyway.
No time to experiment on root growth this year.
Will the "little gem" be enough for a salad?
What spuds you growing this year.
One green pepper, growing on its own...

Well I don't think anyone can say you didn't look after them. Out there with yer watering can feeding them when it were raining.
Another night with no elbow in the ribs for the "Keeper of the bottle"...
You can't be that tired!

Dunnoo,
varying advice about first year runners ..
one says let it fruit, another says don't ley fruit..
Fruit there but nothing to write home about meantime big berries on the two year runners..
so I'll keep them going this season and pot them up again and overwinter...
then forget the gutter method.

Oh, aye, lettuce with a gladsome mind pick the little gem cause it is ready and useable, not got to shop standard but useable..
Think I've mentioned that when we took care of the hanging baskets, we fed on rainy days and folk thought we were a bit lulu...
I'm off to see if any cycling on't today....
Spuds ? phew can't remember what variety..
tons of green growth, no signs of dying back yet...one bag only.

Dunnoo!
This isn't the first time you've grown them is it?
Play the waiting game. If you get a bumper crop it'll be down to you. If you don't you, and it is yer first year with them, then you can say you get very little first time around.
Worth the effort you put into it?

Shop standards has to be perfect though. How many growing their own are bothered about shop standard.
Should be, somewhere...
Failing that, play catch up!
Grow in the bag type...
Enough for a bag of chips, to go with yer pickled beetroot?

Nah, had some the last two years, I just like bringing the runners on for the next year....
Mrs M thought the lettuce was nice and crispy..
nah, a boiling of spuds with butter..
Mrs M knows if she sees any Ayrshires to buy them...
no other regional spuds can contend....
spuds planted 3 moths ago

Last night I'd a chilled bottle of ale, Ossian..
good, very good..
brewed not far from the land of Mo..

Off to watch baseball

At least you'll not get an elbow in the ribs during the night.
You let yer melted heart go with her?
Making their way back to you, as a thank you!

Any ideas on what you can use in place of the guttering yet. That'll not cost an arm and a leg.
If they're better the second year, why didn't yours do better this year?
You had to sit and watch someone else enjoy the fruits* of your labours. Most unfair.

And if Ayrshires aren't available...
Three moths, you planted under cover of darkness. Is it that dangerous sowing spuds.

Did you collect it yourself, whilst being driven round.

Catch up on any cycling today.
Your team going to win again?

*I know lettuce isn't a fruit, but you get what I'm saying.

You can just give up. I mean there's the satisfaction of a job well done, the fruits of yer labours...
Besides, what'll you do with the time saved by not growing anything!

Yer green fingers will be itching, and you'll end up scratching that itch.

No cycling! Is it too warm for them?
"Your team" doing okay or not.

Along those lines. How are yours doing?
How long, after taking that picture, before there were non of them left.

You sit with your feet up at present...lazing. Unless you've been "directed" to yer room.
All that and yer baseball as well, you have been busy.
