Best avoiding vinegar if the fish and chips have to travel..
for on site munching it is essential :cuppa:

Eurovision?
had a glance whilst visiting Mrs M.
I watched other junk....
I mean how da **** did Oz get in there...
No sympathy vote this year I see.

I glance at the headlines each morning for about two shakes of a lamb's tail..
I avoid the news now...
I get my news from sites like fark, Nottheonion and the Onion...

Arriba, arriba, Buen Dia:ohmy:
That's why I said not to put any one mine before you set off.

The voting is normally the best part of the show.
You'll be singing for Scotland next year?
I think they got in a few years ago on either a centenary year or when they had the Olympic Games.
Have you noticed, they never repeat the program.

You don't pick it up on the local jungle drums then? News given that local touch/slant.

You stuck with the Mexican I see.

Sing? I could empty the place in 60 seconds...
I don't keep with local news,
all they do is put out temporary road works everywhere with no one working for days, seriously they are normally everywhere..
everything takes a year and a day..
Bypass road ? started to talk about last decade, now starting..
extending cycle track..
the same, I got the plans off a wifie who runs a cafe when we were looking at housing 4 years ago, it isn't even started.
nothing takes part in the town name in the town..
I could go on, it's a confusing place..

I remember when we did a road closure, the cops were on our tail constantly to re-open the road..

That long! Yer a better singer than myself then.

Not so much the local news, more the "local news" and how it works it way around the area.

As for work being done, they've made another start on some locally. Third time "lucky", in 26 years work has been started. With the council convinced it's only been 11 years. Plans have dates attached/printed on them.

Towns are always confusing places. Different folk, in different departments, with different ideas, not talking to anyone else about their plans. Until the obvious, it'll never work, is pointed out.

Did you never tell them they were slowing the work down, thereby prolonging the closure?

Awaiting Stage 2 of a bypass project to be started. Mid seventies when Stage 1 were completed.

When, is another question for another day and one question that you may never hear an answer to.

Rumours are there's a supervisor who did similar buried under the roundabout on the edge of town. Upset the Irish on site once too often.
You should have downed tools or let the bobby take over. See how he faired.
Did he escape with his uniform intact.

Freebie, what delights have you been gifted for your labours of last week. Or is it for what's to come!

Back in season again. How's yer team doing.

Water! You've changed although the beer, beer bit does show the change isn't that bad, or serious.

Liz (bless her) was coming to launch a ship....
we had to give the area a tart up..
some eejit never ordered a road closure for the roundabout outside the shipyard on the main road..
we got ordered to cone and sign it off as job would not take long...
different plod appeared asking questions and as the one who tols us to drove we pointed him there told us and he's at ____________..
cue plod off in hot pursuit..
we did negotiate 15 mins in which we'd be finished..
I had my bag with my 3'0clock break (or piece, as it is known up here)in it and plod outside the shipyard made me open and empty all contents and open sannie box...
Next day, Mrs M, my late mum in law and me sat on the roundabout barrier to wave at Liz and hubby, we got a smile and a wave from her....

Did you get to see the launch?
Only right and proper. Can't have them seeing the area as it normally is.
You seemed to have a bit of a problem with plod at work. You certain you were allowed to close the road. You might just have been getting yer own viewing points set up!
Plod in hot pursuit of plod, Would have been worth being there when they caught up with each other.
Was this another plod or one of the previous two that you'd upset.
Didn't get a picture did you?

We used to taken from school down to local shipyards to see launches in their heyday..
Fed and watered too....
Just another metal hulk slipping down the slip....
My dad would come home with lumps of wood (for fire kindling), the name they used would be politically incorrect now)..
Shipbuilding was a big thing until it bombed....
Oh, well.

On tidying?
MT got the whole route through cut and litter free (as well as undercover folk on top of rock faces and rough areas enroute....lots of resurfacing enroute for an Anne..
Scottish Secretary (can't remember who), we sprayed and hoed all routes up to the industrial estate he was visiting , side streets also as far as the eyes could see.. that was some palaver but hey, all on OT.

Wood ordered for next stoning job....
oh boy...

No shipyards round these parts. They took the wood back in the day though.
Ever see any sideway launches?
Moved to Ireland for a short while, before cheaper labour were found.

You must have been a busy Bob back then.
We'd similar when various members of the royal family came here. Streets cleared for the big day. Usually with equipment that had to be hired, and litter pickers that weren't seen at any other time.

Stone job and you've ordered wood?
You might have ordered the wrong stuff...

Kickboard for bottom of fence,
may as well do it all instead of just the bit where I intend to lose the bag and bit of stones..
Mrs M will treat then with fence stuff after I cut each bit to size, most just below 6 ft gap between posts.
Might annoy the neighbours and break out the circular saw :cuppa:

Nope, all launches straight down the slip..
slowed by the dragging of heavy chains..
some had a good spread of food...
My mum wanted me to stay out of the shipyards..
I kept that promise..
ended up eventually almost 40 years in't cooncil:rolleyes:

Plod bikes stopping traffic at junctions...
one thing noticeable that HER who shall not be named (here in Jockland) must have been travelling above the speed limit but the royals all at a sedate pace.
I was sitting enjoy my tea at the bowling green one Friday teatime and wondered why about a dozen plod motors appeared all of a sudden and they stood on a large open bit opposite the bowlie..
a camouflaged copter appeared, landed and one male was 'escorted' to a plod van and the convoy whisked away, all done in minutes.....
I assumed from Norn Iron but dunno...

Stop the stones sliding into the neighbour's garden. Seems a good idea, and one that'll mean they can't moan about stones in their garden.
Choice between easy and hard, choose the easy way any day.

There was the room there for conventional launches then.
Do you ever promise to stay out of the council?

Rarely seen the procedures put in place for their arrival. But have seen them in use for when they were in the area.
Most notably when the then prime ministers arrived.
Had a go at the deputy PM when his coach pulled up blocking a junction. Driver was made move by the police, deputy PM didn't want to move from his seat as the cameras weren't around. So just turned into shouting at each other down the coach.
They came to see how the general population lived, but didn't bother about the laws we have to abide by. Straight through at red lights, travelling in an illegally registered vehicle. Yer everyday offences...

There were many "secret" flights between NI and Scotland, that "never happened".
Suppose they'd come for you, what would you have done?

Enjoyed the copter flight...

Launches were all into deep water as the channel ran close to shore, nearest deep water port to NA...
Ships then headed to nearby dock to get fitted out, the dock was my playground as a nipper.

and then there was the banana boats..but I mentioned that before...
