The Valley is on flood alert. The council are hoping the defences actually work this time. But they're not sounding hopeful.

Boom bang a bang at times with main bits over us and SW of us..
Rain was above one inch per hour, some daft person has our windows open
Impressive to say the least...
Thunder is spectacular.
I saw an article earlier about what the local plod had done somewhere but never noted the location, I assume your way?

Never known it go on for so long. Usually passes over quite quickly. I heard the first rumble around 10pm then it was like a disco all night until it eventually eased around 4.Like fireworks going off

I dozed off back of four and was still going great guns, as you say not the usual but planes couldn’t land at Edinburgh and diverted then hopped over around the storm around 3.
Have to say I enjoyed it, can’t remember such a display in years

Still a WX warning for the rest of today, threatening the same..
think I'll avoid the bike in case...
five planes not knowing what to do...
RYR all headed to PIK, EZY all to GLA , most made the trip across to EDI around 3 diverting around the storm, last RYR about 25 mins ago.

Auld codgers like moi can just snooze the day away
All back to normal, storm still going strong out in the North Sea.
I assume all are back in service as I'd imagine incoming at time of night are due out next early AM,
I'll ask a neighbour if I see them..

nearest river, this is just about 1 mile away..didn't take long to rise that height
from 2.45 to 4.45 we had 22 mm of rainfall
