What's wrong with being a machine operative, warehouse worker or suchlike, I've done all three and more besides.

And Bob had my quote button.

My goodness @classic33 there's nothing whatsoever wrong with staffing a warehouse, and machine operators have my special respect as I couldn't begin to do their job. The training however is a lot shorter than mine and sadly their pay and conditions -while not as minging as in the UK- isn't brilliant.

Sadly I've noticed you get a lot more respect if you say you are an OP then a machine operator, or a cabinet maker for that matter.

My observation was that there are a plethora of jobs (apparently Porsche is looking for 500 new staff) and also extra courses for things like CNC training, and the people on the course are applying with vigour. On the other hand their contracts are typically shorter or they end up working for agencies whereas I seem to be getting very few openings, but when I get one it will probably be permanent.

A part of life I guess. It is strange to be on the other side of this divide now though.

Do the 500 Porsche jobs come with a car included?

Follow what you want to do....
when Bob was in his early twenties I got encouraged to do something with my life job-wise..
instead of bumming around picking up work here and there...
whilst I was waiting on moving to further education in our capitol city, I got offered a temp job locally not what I wanted to do BUT 38 years later, I got to retire from that temp job, I never reached further education but did college gained greenkeeping qualifications and eventually became a gardener..
I loved 80% of my job, you never know where life will take you..
Hang out for what you want, Andy...
