ETA: When using a German Keyboard the [ ] bit requires an extra key that UK keyboards don't have. This is because Germans have far to many variations on grammar.

Slightly off topic, but weren't you using an english keyboard translating to german on tthe computer, not a german keyboard?

That's the 'Ü' key on a German keyboard. To fit everything on we need a second "alt" key next to the space bar.

I use a German Keyboard but have the OS running in English because I'm lazy.
