I'm reminded that I was living in North Devon when the great blizzard of 1977 (I think) struck the south west, on just about this exact date. We had drifts up to the top of the upstairs windows. They helicoptered my mum off because she ran a local cottage hospital, and we didn't see her again for 3 weeks. Three weeks in which us three unattended teenagers behaved ourselves absolutely impeccably.
Head uphill. The wind would make any drift follow the feature of the landscape.Tales of Classic digging for weeks on end to get out the valley I would imagine

And have a shovel handy for the morning.
Good Morning
Today & Tomorrow down here for the worst of it.Morning. Just cold here with a small snow flurry. Tomorrow, Thursday and Friday are to be the worst I think.
Dad was looking a bit better yesterday and hoping they get him transferred back up the road to his little local hospital as I don't fancy travelling far over the next few days.
Not going for my morning walk as I am full of the cold and feel like shoot.
It's not that bad, it's sticking in the South East that's all.Good morning.. We have a smattering of snow in deepest darkest Wales, and it is still snowing.
Yes.Morning all
Snow to the east, the wind is coming from the East...

Rode through a few flurries but nothing lying (yet)..Any sign of the "Beast" yet?
