Lose? LOSE! What is this word?
When you had something then it's gone, lost!!

Edit:
Can also mean not winning.

Speak for thissen......I've been up on most of your Moors, all bar tat, and I was brought up on a proper moor in North Devon. Doesn't mean there is anyone in the world who is iller than me at the moment, though. I'm just about teetotal, yet my head has throbbed for 3 days like I've been on a week long bender with Oliver Reed. I managed a heroic walk to my workshop today, but gave up the struggle to open the door, and came back in again, for a long lie-down. I looked for my name in the New Years Honours list, but clearly no-one told the Palace about my epic struggle with adversity.
Been up on Dartmoor once or twice.

I'm still alive! God knows, it was close.... I had to sleep on a towel in the bed for part of the night as I had such a sweat I swept multiple arm-fulls off the sheets. (Yes, Classic, it was sweat). Luckily, I didn't disturb anyone as my wife is just as ill*, and was up watching TV and coughing for England at the time (3.30 or thereabouts). I've just pulled out of tomorrow's New Year party as I wouldn't wish this bug on my worst enemy, or even TMN.

* When I say "just as ill", that's clearly her claim, not mine. I doubt it's possible to be just as ill as I am.
Had another check, nowt for this year, you're clear.
