Hey, tealanders! Hope all is well with your world, and that you had a great christmas.
My lunatic FIL tried to spoil ours, but failed. He'd argue that black was white if anyone would join in the conversation with him. We had a great family meal, nice walk, and a sizeable chunk of someone else's christmas cake, but I can report one failure. My annual attempt at the world mince pie record was foiled by the postman suddenly being given half a dozen from our dwindling stocks. Oh well, there's always next year.
We've all got a nasty bug now, so all the work I planned to do is on hold as I sit around shivering wrapped in a blanket despite it being warm as toast in here. I expect it's terminal, but on the off chance I survive, I'm looking forward to our very genteel annual new year party. Our eldest daughter will score double the points of anyone else in the memory game we play (she's a freak!), and my youngest will win charades and that game where you mime the names of famous people (she's a frustrated actress). The place will be crawling with academics, judges, and retired captains of industry....but they're all the same when you're trying to pass an orange along the line held just with your chin.
