The station's a five minute walk to the main shopping area in the centre of town.

Have been known to walk from home to Leigh Sports Village Stadium & back, approx 4m each way.

Wouldn't you be better off in womens ?

I ask because (disclaimer) I am led to believe (your Honour) that womens thighs & buttocks are generally bigger & differently shaped.
The pad shape will also differ.

I am also led to believe that womens cycle kit is much better than ever.

Worth trying some on maybe ?

XL mens for me & I am now 35" waist was 33/34"....

They seem to have adopted Italian sizing (which is tiny) most of my stuff is Italian brands anyway.

Only Rapha seem close to proper GB sizes, but maybe Endura too, never tried Endura.

Altura stuff is generous
