I would be tempted to do the walk down Argyle street and down past the Barrowlands to the ground. The London Road would be better as it splits the ground and the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. That would be a good excuse to get some photos of the velodrome. We went through Dalmarnock station and saw the lad from the station cleaning up the debris of cans that the hordes had left on the way to the stadium. that would be another option, but quicker to walk back rather than queue up after. Have to hope they don't move it at the last minute. Once the prem games are listed that seem to be it, but I notice the SPL games can moved at the last minute. Still it's a way off yet. I wish it was a game in the south obviously but someone like Partick, Hamilton, St Mirren or even a club from the capital if they were still in the SPL.
Good thinking on the walk up esp if weather okay...
Plenty watering holes en route although most are Celtic pubs, you'll pass the famous Barras and the Barrowland ballroom ...
Glasgow used to get a bad press but really is a very friendly city..obvious it has its 'bits' but plenty bars and restaurants up near George Sq if out for the night. (Dunno bout the women as Mrs Mhor always picks me up from any concerts etc)

Evening all! For me, this is another Friday evening, as I don't work Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Gotta love Friday nights. Shame Thursday becomes another Monday morning, though. (Just threw that one in for our friend @victor, who is always confusing me with his day/night comments at all the wrong times).
Used to work split shifts on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays. Fun when your weekend falls in the middle of the week.

Evening. Or morning. Or something.. Hello..(does that do it?) The global nature of internet means it's all possible, except for North Korea of course. Apparently the word 'Hello' didn't exist until the telephone was invented though, but I think we're past that now. :cuppa:
Not quite true.
"According to the Oxford English Dictionary, hello is an alteration of hallo, hollo, which came from Old High German "halâ, holâ, emphatic imperative of halôn, holôn to fetch, used especially in hailing a ferryman." It also connects the development of hello to the influence of an earlier form, holla, whose origin is in the French holà (roughly, 'whoa there!', from French là 'there'). As in addition to hello, halloo, hallo, hollo, hullo and (rarely) hilloalso exist as variants or related words, the word can be spelt using any of all five vowels.
&
The use of hello as a telephone greeting has been credited to Thomas Edison; according to one source, he expressed his surprise with a misheardHullo. Alexander Graham Bell initially used Ahoy (as used on ships) as a telephone greeting. However, in 1877, Edison wrote to T.B.A. David, the president of the Central District and Printing Telegraph Company of Pittsburgh:"

Went with the other half on Saturday and left her to wander around the city centre shops. We all grabbed something in the Wetherspoons on Queen Street that used to be a bank. We had a wander round the city centre as we were waiting for my mate to get in from Inverness. The city was nice and to be fair just like any other large city centre. As you say the city suffers from some bad press, but so does Brum or any other large city including London. I enjoyed my walk round and would be more than happy to go back, same as anywhere, everyone we spoke to was good as gold and friendly. Big thumbs up to the city

Once Fry has told you there is no argument. Except from Yorkshire, obviously. ;)

Nice architecture up that way..
you cannot really go wrong with Wotherspoons I hear.
I've never been in one....
Edinburgh is nice although Mrs Mhor stayed there when I first met her..
I loved my visits but sadly she moved through west

Do you go out with your local cycling club. You will find the old boys seem to be out on midweek rides all the time. Just need to get in with them, and there always seems to be rides in midweek
A good suggestion. I researched that, though, and the local "social" cycling club (Cheltenham) goes out on Thursdays. I'm not in a position to do a hostile takeover and change their policy on that.

Had a good chuckle at the Duke of Wellington statue. My mate told me the tale of the traffic cone and the councils attempts to prevent it by raising the plinth and the outcry it caused. On saturday the horse was also wearing 2 smaller blue cones as well as Wellington with the regular cone
