Two shops that sold sold the individual parts in the town centre.
One of those did the older parts, now hard to get hold of. Could never afford what I needed to finish anything.
Never had Meccano, but my best friend did. I was never home in time for tea.
I used to race out to Woolworths to spend nearly all my pocket money on Airfix kits as soon as I was given it. There would always be just enough left over to buy some pick-n-mix, which I ate on the way home. Then as soon as I got home I glued it all together so fast that the propellors never went round. Then seven days to wait until I botched the next one.

Cheers for the heads up on the Bobby. I have seen they have a bunch of lively singers on the right of the away stand, but I take it the neds (chavs down here) don't do the game, just hang about looking for away fans. My mate doesn't do scarves, but I suppose a couple of guys with English accents could confuse them, but we will be in a bit of a hurry. 17:18 to Glasgow. What about Airbles? There is a 17:10 off there and a 6 minute change at Motherwell to get the same 17:18.
You'd need to be nippy....Airbles is just one big road...It wont be that busy, you don't get big crowds up here unless its at the bigot grounds.

Those an'all!

Who didn't want to build something like this though? Three feet high and just short of five foot in length. Considered one of the easier ones!

I was always happy building the actual construction, but then trying to pick something up with those cranes inevitably led to some pulley turning/ slipping on its axle when it shouldn't have, and all the boring string-threading would come adrift. PITA.....
