Just talking to my mum on the phone. My younger brother has pneumonia in one lung and pleurisy in the other. He said he thought he was having a heart attack. He hasn't had any cigarettes for a few weeks and he blames his illnes on that.

He said before he stopped smoking he felt fine, but since giving up he feels like crap and is sick. Doh

Did he just pack in smoking or cut down?

He says he stopped altogether, but im not sure about that

I remember pleurisy well... woke up in the middle of the night and thought I was dying then too...horrible and probably the most pain I've ever been in... Do feel for him.

It's true that giving up does at first make you more susceptible to illness I think, but it is one of the most miraculous improvements you can make to your health overall. That was why I climbed loads as a celebration of my new ability to breathe better!
