Yes, we sat in the Square in the evening as we didn't have to buy anything. During the day we walked the alleys alongside the canals and found little bakeries where we could have food/drink at a reasonable price.I go over to Germany a few times a year for work and they usually are really sound people, I always have a good time.
Did you sit in St Marks? We ended up in a bar a few streets away near the grand canal, and even there it was something like £6 for a small bottle of beer.
I've been getting subtle nudges about going again for the past few years, luckily they're subtle enough for me to pretend I've missed them.
One of the guys we meet here every year was a forces baby. His parents went back to the UK but he stayed.

Jeez - there are so many good lookin' bikes these days.
This shop only seemed to do Cannondale & Raleigh with a few Giant & a couple of Kinesis bikes.
Not that I am in a buying position or really need another, just browsing.
Saw a nice Cannondale (well 2 really) a CAAD 8 & a CAAD X. In the shop they will stay though.
