We weren't far apart then @Peteaud, was lunching in Axminster myself, avoided the coast today... I did have hog but in a sesame encrusted batter, soy and mustard pears. No stuffing, onions or bread rolls for me..

We go into river cottage canteen sometimes. to be fair it is not that expensive (cheaper than some pubs) and the food is normally good, but again, go out of season for the best.

If I took my Dad there he'd be having the main course wolfing it down in two seconds and saying 'Yep, very nice but is that all you get? Down the Arms you can get a big mixed grill with all the trimmings and a pint for a tenner', or something along those lines. For some people good food is pointless!

We went in their in begining of March, had a massive stuff up, inc puds and drink for £45 for the both of us. Not cheap and plenty of better places off the tourist trail, but it was 10/10 for everything and we really enjoyed it. (Mrs Auds birthday treat)

Thank you, I do know Sidmouth quite well, my nephew plays rugby for the club there so I go to the home games a lot and my mothers half of the family is still in residence there, so we avoid go there quite often!
