Thank you @Blue, will be handy when I go to London next...
I had forgotten about learning a new written language as well as the spoken one, double hard. When I was a lad holidaying in Crete many moons ago we had to resort to the pictures on packets to get an approximation of what we thought it might be when shopping in a local supermarket.:wacko:

I was last in Crete in the 1980's. It's a lovely island and I fully intend to go back when I start to winter in Cyprus. When I was there I only knew about 4 words in Greek. Over the last few years my vocabulary has improved and I can handle basic shopping, eating out and polite conversation. It was only this year that I decided to expand my vocabulary and also learn to read and write the language. I do a little bit of study every day and love it. The biggest struggle is the grammar, which is mega hard, and I'm still wondering how best to go about it as I have to rely on self study. I'm presently toying with the idea of buying some kiddies books in Greek so the I can translate them and learn at a basic level. Whatever I do it's all good fun and will be rewarding when I can speak to the local Cypriots in Greek ^_^

Well, must hit the shower then hit the road - my few days of peace and isolation are about to end - as Mrs B arrives home today and I'm on airport pick-up duty :hugs:

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Well. I am back obviously. I have fought the good fight with the traffic consisting of lorries, tractors, WVM, and little old men and womem driving along at a massive underwear changing 20 miles per hour. I fought my way into the bank, and then pushed and shoved my way around the supermarket of the tesco, and spent a large amount of my children and grandchildrens inheritance on stuff. Mainly stuff for grandchildren to stuff they're faces with whenever they enter my humble abode via the revolving door i have had fitted at the front of the house.

my feet hurt, but at least I have a cup of coffee in my hand. Afternoon everyone :cuppa:

Have a good day saluki.
What a bloomin' morning.
The dog I was grooming, first thing, if a right jiffly bum at the best of times but today he went to a whole new level. After being bathed and dried, I started to clip him and he started barking and leaping around like mad. I let him off the table and put him on the floor and he charged around like a loony. After 10 minutes he was still charging around like an idiot and not responding to his name or anything, so I managed to grab him on his way past and his heart was hammering and his legs were still 'running'. This dog is 14 or so years old so I was worried that he was going to have a heart attack. I got his Mum to try to comfort him but he was still 'running' so she put him down and he carried on charging about. I rang the vet who said to grab him and crate him for an hour, somewhere quiet and cool, which I did. His legs were still trying to run, even in his little crate thing. I then left his Mum and her Grandaughter in Law to it. There was no way that I was going to complete the groom today so I said that I would be back at their convenience to finish the groom off properly.

As it was too early to go to my next client, I went off and found a nice soothing pot of tea to calm down. I have never seen anything like that dog's behaviour, ever. I've seen dogs have a mad 5 minutes but nothing like that. I was a bit alarmed. I doubt that I will ever hear anything from them again, its in the nature of dog owners to blame the groomer for anything untoward that happens to their pet. The only thing that I think could of happened is that he had been stung by something but we saw no flying things and the dog didn't nibble at a stinging area so it probably wasn't that.

Good Afternoon, well, we're all up to date with your day so far WD.. oh and yours now @Saluki...drama..my 14 year old dog couldn't move like that now, sting or cat or probably gravity..!
I'll do mine then...

I've changed plans slightly, walked the dog, did some washing, did the lawn and a few other sundry gardening jobs I spotted but some unexpected black clouds and a call from my brother seeking to go for 'a long one' tomorrow, together with the need to maintain necessary energy and general uprightedness for that mean a quiet afternoon watching todays Basque Country stage on telly... Oh, and of course :cuppa: Tea now, it's afternoon!

Sounds like he was having some kind of fit. They can happen at anytime to any dog of any age and can be very scary. You did the right thing Saluki and it's not your fault at all.

I hope you've managed to calm down now you have had some tea. Just remember, it wasn't your fault. :hugs:

I think that he was having some sort of episode. He wouldn't even respond to his Mum. I know that it's not my fault and very sanguine about the fact that the owner will blame me nonetheless, its what owners do to make themselves feel better. An occupational hazard really, water off a duck's back nowadays too. I am looking forward to finishing my grooming days later this year. Not quite counting the days but as soon as I managed to do an exchange, I will start counting.
