Haven't really felt up to posting this until today, but here goes. My mum was taken ill over new year with what was 1st thought to be flu, then a water infection, then a gall bladder infection, but has been diagnosed as burkitt lymphoma, one of the rarest blood cancers you can get. She has now been in Birmingham for a week, beginning the long battle of treatment that is ahead. My cycling may get curtailed considerably over the coming months, with the travelling over to see her, but I still aim to get out when time allows, if only to de-stress a bit

When my mother was a child her parents kept chickens, ducks, rabbits to eat and for the eggs. And her grandmother had a farm that she used to visit.
What sort of rabbits did she keep? Never seen one that laid eggs!
Odd, three on here with family connections to farming in Ireland.

Both my parents came from what is now the ROI, but the whole island was under British rule at the time that they were born. However, many of my holidays were spent in the ROI and we were known as "the black Northerners"!!
What County?
