They are quite fiesty as well aren't they ?

Yes. Just this minute had a squabble with 2 of them chasing each other round the garden.
The one in the pictures is probably the boss of the garden and has got a mate that it tolerates and allows to feed with it. When you read up on the subject, it says they start to allow a mate on their territory around December time. So I would guess the other one is a female.
The other one comes from a garden from the other side, so must be intruding on the other one patch and he obviously doesn't want to share his worms, so we then have squabbling and chasing round the garden.

I love wildlife and watching the birds.
On my ride there is quite often a kestrel waiting on top of a fence post for me....I can get really close now (about 2 or 3 metres) before he flies off. I also see a pair of buzzards and red kite regularly.
There are deer in the park (group of about 6) but I've only ever seen them when driving by.
Then there's the herons and swans etc on the canal....it's great!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I like robins. We have them and black birds. They are funny as well and perch on top of the fence looking at me and expecting food. I love having the birds in the garden. We get a lot of owls as well. I can hear them on the roof at night

There have been occasions when we have been out on the bikes and you will come across a buzzard on a branch or a telegraph post and instead of flying off it just looks down on us and you see it's head moving round following us watching. They are beautiful creatures close up and you realise how large they are.
Apparently they are not the most successful hunters and their diet consists of a lot of earth worms which you will often see them in ploughed fields digging around.
Also they are scavengers and take a lot of kill. Unfortunately on the railway we tend to hit a lot of pheasants and pigeons which attract buzzards and I think I must have hit and killed at least 6 or 7 buzzards over the years which really saddens me.

I hit a pheasant with my old car. It flew into my bumper and smashed a big hole in it. It made a terrible bang noise when I hit it. And a sparrow hawk nearly tore my face with its talons as it flew past while chasing a blue tit.

Well, defeated on the radio quiz today. Went down 3-2 so it looks like I wasted £2 on the lotto ticket for tomorrows draw!!

Still on top of the leader board for now though.

I know of 2 of our drivers that have hit pheasants at 100 mph and it has cracked the screen. Obviously the train has had to go out of service.

We went to visit a bird of prey centre a few years ago.
I'll never forget the guy letting me hold one of the huge owls. I was taken aback at how heavy it was but it was really friendly!
It snuggled into my neck and the chap told me to put my hand under its wing. It was so warm!!
It was a fantastic experience being so close to such a magnificent bird

Mr dragon thought it was funny. I on the other hand did not..

Tell you what when you hit one at speed in a train and it doesn't half make a bang, but often you see it ahead so know what's coming. It's if a pigeon flies across your path and you don't see it coming and then it's in your eyeline the bang on the screen can almost make you jump out of your seat.
