I'm a bit late getting into the various Scandinavian crime series. I watched
The Killing on DVD before Christmas and enjoyed that so I decided to catch up on the others.
I spotted that the first series of
The Bridge was on while I was away for Christmas so I recorded it and am watching it every night. I have only watched the first 3 of the 10 episodes SO NO SPOILERS PLEASE!
The plot of the first series is generally that a nasty serial killer is carrying out a series of grisly killings to publicise his particular political views. A Swedish policewoman and a Danish policeman are heading the investigation ... The woman is an interesting character. She has some sort of autism or other similar disorder, so she finds it hard to understand other people's emotions, and consequently behaves in a way that they find disturbing.
I like the style of these programmes, which feel different to British TV shows. They are like a modern Scandinavian take on our old
Prime Suspect series.
They are subtitled rather than dubbed, which I prefer.
