I've been in a crush & seen a bull clear a seven foot wall to escape. I'd no-where to run!

But we do so I thought I would do it to suit both!

I can see some logic in spelling 'centre' as 'center' and 'colour' as 'color', but I'm afraid that 'donut' just looks like it should be pronounced 'do-nut' (do rhyming with zoo)!

(Yeah, I know that there is a bit of a problem with the way that the English spell and pronounce many words e.g. 'though', 'through', 'plough', 'rough', 'cough'!)

I think it may have all started with Dunkin' Donuts. Something about they thought it looked (and fit) better on a sign. I think it's funny too and sometimes feel like I should pronounce it like do nut.
theatre is another one but we still spell it that way. Then there is practice which personally I think looks better with an s.
There is a football (American) player who's last name is spelled Favre but he pronounces it farve... not got why but a friend of mine said probably because it sounded gay; which still doesn't make sense.... how exactly does a name sound gay? I mean I would get it if a man were to say it so that he sounded gay but? People are so weird sometimes.
