So then is there a an Island called Lansin in the Celtic sea? Because when I googled it all I got was 'did you mean Lansing Island in Florida?

No. Plywood and fibreglass, although a traditional Aboriginal canoe would have been an interesting project. Most of the trees that would have been suitable are protected.

Are you using fiberglass cloth and encapsulating with epoxy? Because that takes quite a bit of time!
