Erm...I admire Hoogerland as much as the next man, but SPOTY is for UK sportspersons.

They do have an International category in SPOTY - Federer or Nadal usually win it

Things I shouldn't be allowed to say:

1. For most of the past decade, Overseas SPOTY should have been Valentinik.

2. I'm no Man Utd fan, but Ryan Giggs really is something else. He deserved to win it when he did.

3. I'm not sure why being related to the queen and quite good at riding a horse should allow you to win it....

4. Hoogerland is a man of immense courage, like alll TdF riders... but in 5 years we'll be saying 'Who was that guy who went into a fence?'

5. I prefer Contador when he isn't winning.

6. Isn't it a good Tour this year (so far)?

Just watched the highlights of todays stage.
The big feller himself was interviewed post race on a bike. Wearing jacket, buff and helmet combo, and a backpack! before cycling off.
6 1/2 hours race up the Pyrenees, followed by a commute from the finish. Legend.

Can his team not buy him a bus ticket at least? Or even a ride in the team car for that matter.
