That was one hell of a way to crash. There's to many vehicles on the tour in my opinion, i know the Teams have support but the Media do get in the way to much. I remember falling out of a tree as a kid onto a barbed wire fence and was stuck for nearly an hour until my friends went and got my parents  Lets hope Johnnys wound heal soon. He's a f*cking hero

According to the ITV4 highlights, drivers are supposed to have special training before they are allowed to take their cars into the race, but this was a subcontracted company and they hadn't had that training

I'm not entirely sure what to think about that, but it leaves me wondering what hope there is for Joe Public on a bike if a driver who merely holds an ordinary licence can't be trusted not to swerve into cyclists.

I don't follow racing much, but I saw the clips. To me, Hoogerland ticks all the boxes as a sporting gentleman. They should have not have made him spend so much time on the podium. His foregiveness of the car driver was the stuff of heroes. Chapeau.

I agree. What a role model. I think my attitude may have been slightly less compassionate.

I think Hoogerland should be nominated "Sport personality of the year" in December. No-one deserves it more.
What a brave and true gentleman!

Seconded. Of course it will go to some sodding footballer or F1 driver

As it always does.........

I used to follow Carl Fogarty in the World Superbikes many years ago. He was a World champion and the year he was nominated Micheal f*ckin Owen got the award for another sh*te England performance. If that wasn't rigged I don't know what was.

Didn't he also win it from under the nose of an F1 driver a few years ago?
