More of the "Rip off Britain" I'm afraid. The TDF has always been a free event for spectators and now , surprise surprise, Yorkshire decide to charge to watch the team presentation? Typical British mentality.

£85? Are the Rolling Stones the warm up act?
I was about to ask if the Manic Street Preachers were playing too, but you beat me to it with The Stones.

Yet another example of them making a complete árse of it; from start to finish this has been one huge load of bóllocks. I'm off to Belfast in a few weeks to enjoy a properly arranged Grand Tour depart.
I like that yes the Giro seems to be the smart option.

When I watched the TDF in 94 in Hampshire it was as if it was me and one man and his dog at the road side, 2007 wasn't massive either, 2014 going to be an expensive bun fight, blatant cashing in, will still be there on the road for a couple of days just not at the team presentation.

Seems like theres quite a few unhappy folk. http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news...t-85-ticket-cost-for-tour-de-france-1-6574407

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “This is a not-for-profit event and ticket revenue will fund the event and help ensure that we deliver the biggest Team Presentation ceremony ever. We are working with ASO, the Tour de France’s organisers, to do just that. Prices are in line with other similar events at the arena such as BBC Sports Personality of the Year.”

As long as I breathe, I attack.
They did under budget the cost of running the TDF by a couple of million , they have to get the money back somehow and i bet they can get enough gullible ardent fans/corporate tickets sold to recoup some of the shortfall.
