Careful, being British and German, I have a strong heritage in the "taking over" area.
Mind you, as Youngest Son said once: "So... I'm half British, Half Japanese and I grew up in Germany. Seriously, did you guys never consider how this could end?"
Did he ask in German, Japanese or English?
We have several mixed nationality couples in our address book. It can be fun to ask them what language they argue in.
So, we've reached an important milestone in the workshop reorganisation, almost by accident, we even managed to paint 3 of the walls before someone noticed and told me I couldn't.*
As a reminder, this is what the workshop looked like soon after I arrived:

Poor image quality because of rubbish camera...
It's a bittersweet moment, as yesterday I also accepted an offer for another job. This is in Tübingen. ca. 150k away.
My role will be similar to here, working with long term unemployed in a bike workshop, but with a manager and a master bike mechanic, so I'm not on my own and can learn a whole new set of skills. I'll also probably have one day a week teaching woodwork as well. Also, it's much closer to the family, and I'll be paid 20% more.
I'll have a few weeks to get the last bits of organisation done ready for whoever takes over from me in the future, so at least any candidate coming will see a vaguely professional workplace that they can use as a basis to develop further.
Finally, for @classic33, a historic development of its own:

The desk has been entirely rebuilt, and the mug has been located...
*The manager still hasn't been in the workshop. We're all wondering how long it will take before she notices...

What's in the cup?
You've a cup at work, that you don't use, and you're forever trying to find it.Pens, scissors et c. And a teaspoon for some reason. I don't generally drink tea at work because the kitchen is so far away it has its own postcode. Come to that, so is the bog.

That poor cup!
