I wasn't sure if this event was a bit of a gimmick, but lots of pro teams attending, apparently...

Anyone going spectating - any tips for where to spectate? Was going to go to Leith Hill just because it's used 3 times but I'll be in the car & it looks as though parking's going to be a pig...

Apparently we should be able to get a live stream for this.

I'm quite looking forward to watching

The line-up looks great but it's just a shame, as Helen Wyman has been arguing, that there is no equivalent women's race, considering this is supposed to be an Olympics legacy event.

I thought there were races for women and juniors too? Don't know where I saw that though.....
Yes, there is an Elite women's Crit race around St James' park in the evening.
Prudential RideLondon Grand Prix; criterium racing for handcycles at 17:00 and juniors at 17:45 (start lists for both here) plus elite women at 18:30 (start list here).
But there's no women's Grand Prix ride

Fabulous sprint!! Démare for FDJ.

Would be nice if this could become a regular fixture.
Wandering around London yesterday I was crossed by 4 FDJ riders on the CS3. If I'd had more presence of mind I could have ridden into them, taken a couple of them out, and the result might then have been very different:whistle:

Very good win for Demare, FDJ were the only team that looked like they wanted to get into everything today.

What a damp squib. No info available to the commentators on which main players were in peloton. Sprint approaching the line and still commentators haven't been told who is in it. Imagine if it had been a horse race?

'There are a bunch of horses approaching the line and oh look one of them has won.'

At the King of the Mountains sprint on Box Hill the coverage cut to a celebrity chef who had finished the ride. Not even any info on who had won it.

The only excitement I found in it was trying to recognise where the race was in London.

eh? That was really hard racing with a great sprint at the end.
Were you watching it on the beeb?

I watched it on bbc, it was disappointing they didn't know who was where or what the time gaps were between riders/groups. I could barely hear the commentators over the music/commentary in the background at the finish line (I assume this is where the commentators were based) . A good sprint at the end though with a nice wide finish and no crashes..

It didn't really matter if they knew who was still in the peloton, and tbh they only mentioned it for the benefit of people who were only watching to hear the names of riders they might have heard of (Sagan) or Brits who they might not have, but they'd have said "the British rider <enter name>". If it had not been for this they'd probably not have mentioned that they didn't know who was in the peloton rather than plebs sitting thinking "why have they not mentioned anyone I've heard of?"

The knew who was in the breaks, they got the riders correct in the sprint. That's all you really needed to know.
