Back in the mid 60s, my pal and his brother were each given a new Sun Snipe Plus.
I was livid with envy - !

The machine is now back with me, work will start soon on upgrading to 10 speeds and a general clean and tidy up.

Work getting under way. BB cup came out easily as did the cotters. he new gearing will be 48/38 up front with a 28 back 5-speed block. Im fitting new toe clips, bar tape and chain too. Back with me after 3 years, originally bought back in 2014.

I could never clean a bike to that degree as I would be too impatient and want to ride it

More fun this morning, wheels being cleaned and trued. Also spent some time cleaning pedals and repairing the fragile Britannia Sprint Veloce guards.

Some pics of the finished build. Yet to test it. The bottom gear is a now more useable 36".

First test ride out today, a gentle 4.5 miles to make sure it behaved itself. (it did!)

That first test ride is always a daunting thing but glad it went well

I alway do a few laps of the local park first, before trying on the road, to make it stops properly, changes gear as it should and that nothing comes loose or falls off!
