a scene from the old b/w film "a night to remember" (about the titanic sinking) is the saddest i've ever seen. a little boy has lost his mum in the scrum of the ship's final moments, and a crewman, knowing for sure the end is nigh, puts his arm around the boy and tells him they'll be with his mum soon enough.

The end of 'Killing Fields' when 'Imagine' pipes up.

This also makes me cry but for the reason that a throughly good film was ruined by this terrible overated horrible song

When Bobby runs down the platform shouting "Daddy, my Daddy" in The Railway Children". I'm not normally prone to sentimental stuff, but that gets me every time. I think it's the way she says "my daddy".

The final scene from Leon, where he gets shot from behind by Gary Oldman. IIRC at that second, the screen goes dark to illustrate Leons end of life.

Doesnt make me cry, but a very very good scene.

There is a film still of "Don't Look Now" which affects me and that is of the Donald Sutherland character clutching his drowned daughter at the edge of a lake. I haven't summoned up the courage to watch this film yet...
