Nothing of note recently, but while pickIng litter - a deceased bouquet of flowers in their Christmas cellophane at the end of a farm track.

I tried to imagine the crime scene...

Nice work guys - some great finds amongst all those

Yeah, tell me about it. These generally don't tend to elicit the same sense of joy for some reason

That's a story that's no doubt itching to be told
Aftermath of an accident. I ran over it.

Picked it up and took it to the local police station, which I'd to pass anyway. They were non too happy at me handing it over.

Some finds were there for several days by the kerbside. I recall passing these heavy duty bungee cords for about three mornings, before deciding on the fourth to stop and have a good look at them. They were covered in winter muck, but a quick wash in the sink at work revealed them to be virtually new.

Not much really comes to mind.
The other week sussing out somewhere that looked like a possible freecamp place I did find a geocache plastic box in a hollow treetrunk.

Man, that's nasty - not sure I'd have the resolve to take that route tbh!

Ahh yes; I've found a couple of those too. Didn't know it was a thing until I found one and googled it..

Following this evening's ride this post appears particularly timely. I decided to treat myself to a beer; the first off-license I visited was departed empty-handed thanks to their incorrect / extortionate pricing, so I journeyed further across town and scored a few treasures on the way.

Firstly we had a nice fully functional Clipper lighter (I usually keep these even if they don't work as they're usually serviceable) - always useful for a variety of fire-based tasks. Next up was another probable smack-chariot; a nice (if of gas pipe construction) old ten-speed steel Raleigh road bike.. abandoned apparently because it'd been ridden until the rear tyre literally disintegrated and jammed the rear wheel by interfering with the brakes

Tomorrow's job will be to give it a closer inspection and check the frame number against the Bike Register website. If I don't get any hits I'll look towards fixing it and either keep it as a pub bike or punt it on.

I also went back for a second serving as I'd seen another abandoned cheapo hybrid that looked worth fixing. Unfortunately the chain was stuck between the cassette and spokes, attempts to sort it on the spot failed and I managed to wheel it for about half a mile before it jammed completely and I grew tired of looking reet shifty to passers by so left it for someone else to "enjoy"..

A good score nonetheless

I've found abandoned tents and victorian bottles up the chase (cannock chase).

Best my mate found as he was looking through some pebbles to skim across the water was an old white dog poo he mistook for a pebble.

I'll be honest and say I never really gave it any thought. Ran over it, so stopped and went back to see what I'd hit. Then I found out what it was, and what was in it.

Where would you take something like that. A phonecall to the police would have taken longer than the trip to the station. I was taking the easy option.
