so are you near a frame builder? tell us your location - this could have been out by now for £20 and no hassle!

Burton on Trent so LBS have suggested Mercian in Derby but he reckons it could cost a lot more than £20... He suggested cutting it downwards with hack saw blade (but didn't offer to it) and no freeze spray didn't work.

I have now decided to leave it unless riding it without collar locked sorts it

Mercian used to charge £12 to remove seatposts and they certainly didn't use a hack saw blade! ...but we all knew Mercian's standards have dropped in recent years - I'm surpirsed by their response though - did you tell them it was a cheap bike?

leaving the clamp off wont work so you should stop holding out hope for that!

That's what I was thinking e rider so I'll give it another few days soaking it in lube and riding with collar off and then tighten it up and forget about it
