Well, yes, the responsible minister answered repeatedly that it wasn't matter for government, but this is a relatively easy thing to do to specifically ask for it to be made a listed event and it keeps the problem in front of them. Politicians are often claiming that cycle sport events promote cycling, so there is some argument that, if they believe that, they should list some headline cycling events to keep them free to air.

I recently took out a 2 year sub with Proton VPN, works out after a whacking amount of cashback from topcashback, at about £2.20 per month.
Last night I finally found time to download and install it, and had a bit of a play.
Picked a server in Aus, connected to SBS and created an account, and was able to watch the ondemand races with no issue.
Will test the live setup on Sunday, but even if it's just play back after the fact, I would be happy with that.
Ordered an extra HDMI cable so I can run it straight into the TV as well.
My man maths says I am saving £29 a month X 24, which is £696, which mostly pays for the new turbo trainer I have just bought, I mean invested in ;-)

The biggest and best saving for me though, is of course no kirby
I'll happily trade any number of vegemite adverts for that.

In fact, thinking about that, on top of the £696, I would say that completely pays for the turbo and zwift cog and clicker :becool:

Have you prepaid for the Trump-supporting VPN? Then it only works out to that if you get 2 years before they spot you and boot you off (SBS blocking VPN exit nodes, and/or Proton invoking their "You agree not to use your Account or the Services for any illegal or prohibited activities. Unauthorized activities include, but are not limited to: [...] Infringing upon or violating the intellectual property rights of the Company or a third party" term of contract).

I couldn’t help but smile at this yesterday: a result of Trump’s handy work that nobody around here should lose any sleep over.

Not surprisingly never saw that article, but it's only the ceo, the company is Swiss, so not sure what a company supporting the orange one has to do with the service really, or the orange ones influence on the world.

It's definitely a bit of a gamble, and I appreciate it is not a guarantee, but it's only a smidge over £25 per year, so that's the kind of gamble I am more than happy to take - it's a punt, but a relatively small one to me.

Mine works fine for live races, I find the commentary a bit bland you might regret not having Kirby to keep you entertained.
It will certainly be a novelty to start with. I genuinely don't believe I could or will miss ck, his miscalling of riders & tactics in races, repeated soundbites about toots on bidons, terrible puns, and going on about olive oil and roundabouts to name but two, are items I can definitely live without, my heart used to sink when on the TDF commentary he would take over for his shift, or even worse if I found him ensconced for an entire one day race.
I'd prefer a less flowery, more factual observational type of commentary.

For clarity, I don't dislike ck personally, I expect on his stage show thing he does it's probably very watchable, and a good laugh, I just can't stand his commentary style and inaccuracies. No I couldn't do a better job, but then I'm not paid to commentate.

The best person for me, who struck the perfect balance on ES, was Daniel Lloyd - he was the most natural commentator for me, and seemed to have a great rapport with whoever else he was with, aside from a great knowledge of the sport, races and riders.
Then they booted him out after the split from GCN.

You don’t need to worry about much in the way of any legal comeback. VPNs are perfectly legal, even if they can be used for accessing content illegally. They worst that can happen is to get blocked.
By far the best commentary available, is ad free and hardly ever fails, is Sporza. You don’t need to speak Flemish to understand that they are totally devoted to the race situation and the riders involved.
I do miss our occasional comments on Carlton’s latest calamity, Daniel. :becool:

I think that's the least they'll do. They could also get your vpn account closed and, if your browser leaked your ip address, get your home internet connection closed, assuming your vpn and home internet service contracts include the usual sort of term against unauthorised stream viewing. I think it's unlikely, but don't kid yourself how many contracts you're probably breaking and the penalties in them.

And if you were to show a vpn stream commercially, then things can get nasty.

I tried Nord on Safari, no joy. Switched off blockers, no joy. Tried Firefox, no joy.
Back to the drawing board for me.

  1. Install NordVPN
  2. Select Australian VPN
  3. Open Safari
  4. Go to SBS site and create an SBS Player a/c - requires name, email etc., and respond to any email messages re registration
  5. Login to SBS Player
  6. Search for cycling streaming coverage and play
Hope this helps

I'm struggling with casting from Rai, France TV and VRT (Sporza) from my devices

Obv I have a VPN, but both Paris Nice on France3 and Tirreno on Rai couldn't be casted.

Sporza had the option, but it wasn't connecting to my Chrome Cast (which granted could be a hardware issue)

Any tips gratefully received

If you cast the screen rather than the window you may get better success . Mirror screen option in settings

If that doesn't work MHL displaylink ™ cable mirroring to hdmi via usb c should work ... Need a displaylink ™ box and hdmi cable ..cheap on eBay

I‘m not very tech savvy so apologies if this sounds daft.

If I’ve read your post correctly, I can simply download Nord VPN and sign up, then using my iPad watch cycling for free from other countries? Surely it’s not that simple?

Pretty much is
