Streaming Cycling in UK - Discovery+ prices!

How is it off-topic? Can we really discuss streaming cycling coverage to the UK now without fools suggesting that using a VPN to circumvent restrictions of foreign public broadcasters is totally legal (sometime by appealing to youtube creators and magazine writers who are not great sources of legal advice) and risk-free?
Unnecessary, and only fitting of posts found in NCAP. Please consider editing your post and removing the derogatory remark.

Yeah, exactly the steps I took. Keeps getting blocked on my laptop. Works fine on my phone.

Your phone will work differently to a computer. However, if you can watch the coverage on an iPhone, then you'll probably be able to watch it on an iPad as the iPad is effectively a larger version of the iPhone - same apps, settings etc. I think you need to confirm what computer platform you are using - PC or Mac, and the browser - Google Chrome, Safari (Mac), Thunderbird etc.

So for clarity - is there a legal free satellite channel (in whatever language) available in the uk?

Having not received a pointer towards this “free” Eurosport 1 in the UK and based upon my years of experience with foreign language satellite tv, I would say that was a definite no.

Ironically, a decade or so ago, there were quite a few FTA satellite stations. One by one, they have been closed down, taken into subscription packages or gone to online only.

I can only think of one channel that shows occasional cycling and that’s RTPi from Portugal.

Yes, but that was your choice. Eurosport 1 was and still is broadcast free to air by satellite to the UK, although they stopped English commentary soon after Sky Digital launched with the paid "British Eurosport" channel. It's only the final version of that which shut down recently.
@mjr can you give us all a link/clue as to the location/method to access this free to air satellite link please?

I expect we will all be heading off to use it, I'm not bothered by commentary personally.

Thanks.

The biggest risk is probably malware off dodgy servers as opposed to legit channels via VPN .

Several, but most of them require a multihead or motorised dish and a receiver that supports it. Eurosport 1 at 19°east and the various RAI and France TV channels at 5°west all show live cycling pretty often. L'Equipe21 is also on 5°w but they've been leaving their web stream unlocked a lot lately, which is probably more useful to more people.

I used to watch France 2 and 3 on 5 West, as they were the only FTA left on Satellite. I knew RAI had set up on there, but could never locate a signal to lock onto. I assumed they were beyond my equipment’s capability.
L’Equipe is not difficult to watch online. They are the best for live cycling imo.
The French national channels have, I believe, lost the rights to show most of their cycling, to yes, Discovery plus/max.

Sadly most of us don't have a mini Jodrell Bank in our back gardens and the technical wherewithal to operate it.
While landed gentry like you 😉 can do that if you have the land to waste, for most of us plebs in ordinary houses, it's just a dish on a pole, with one more "brick" behind it than a rigid Sky one. The receivers are special-purpose for TVs and simpler to use than most devices used to access this forum, although more complicated than they used to be.

Possibly. France TV and RAI now need a "multistream" capable receiver to view, not just an HD one.

I've missed the news about that. Do you have any details, especially when they lose it?

Aha, well I don't have, and never have had a *dish, be it motorised or otherwise, so I guess
