@n3rdy Thanks. Will this just import the route, or the data as well? I cant try it out at the moment as I'm at work and I dont have admin rights to install the garmin Communicator add in for IE, so cant upload the GPX file.

Garmin is a device. I guess a lot of folk start of tracking their rides on smartphones then upgrade to a Garmin as they are a LOT more accurate. I have a Garmin and it syncs with Endomondo and Strava automatically.

I started with Mapmyride and strava but found them way off in terms of accuracy. I apparently cycled a top speed of 46.8mph which I know is rubbish.

Just treated myself to a Garmin 800 and find it amazing, the options that you have are endless and does exactly what I need.

All depends if you can a) afford it and b) justify paying the price.

I'd be interested to find out how to sync with other apps too, currently it will auto upload to garmin connect but then I manually transfer by exporting the gpx files to endomondo as I use this for other activities too.

Strava, aslong as you get a solid handlebar mount it means you have something to track your ride, something to use in case of emergency, and something to play angry birds on when your waiting for your mate to catch his breath back when you beat him to the top of hill  I use my old and trusty iPhone 3 in a Topeak waterproof case mounted to my stem. Does the job!

Hi Billy

This will transfer all the data over, speeds, route etc. I recently moved some files from Strava over to Endomondo just as a backup so it should work for you

Ah I like the sound if that, didn't know you could upload to strava with a garmin !
I agree that it certainly drains the battery a lot on a smartphone...... Very annoying !

Turn off Data on your phone when using strava and battery will last 6-7 hours on most phones.

Sorry but for me Strava isnt accurate if your wanting to record speed and distance. Me and my friend used both, he had strava on his phone and I had my garmin. His said his top speed was 49.9mph and my top speed was 38.9 we were nose to wheel the whole way. It was also out by 0.8 of a mile when we had finished.

Garmin all the way for me....................unless if the garmin that is off haha

I've also done Strava v Garmin comparisons when cycling with a friend. his ride top speed was +2mph against my Garmin and had mysteriously covered an extra mile????
Get yourself a Garmin edge 200. happy days

Interesting as I have had the opposite result when comparing Mapping with and Android phone and a Garmin, Garmin always shows faster time when in reality we were wheel to wheel. Also Garmin always shows more climbing.

I have a Bryton now, does like a Garmin but much cheaper. It seems to match the pace part now but the Garmins always show about 10% more on the climbs.

Try uploading data to different sites, I can upload the trace to Garmin connect, Endomondo, Bryton and Strava, all the stats vary!
