I've never known it to be closed and would assume it is always open. Thwaite Lane itself is a fairly decent gravel track, it's just getting up and out of the tunnel that's a killer.

Yup, the big pineapple, that place has closed and is up for redevelopment. I was there last week.

Was on it's knees in 2017. Luckily the displays in the pineapple were the same, but rustier, as when I was a kid - which was cool coz I had my kids with me. Used to see the one in Gympie more often.

Seen similar in Australia, but often showing a cobra for some odd reason. Plenty of local ophidians that were suitable for the gig.
Oh yes, there are several Claphams in the UK, including one in Norfolk - !
