Road sign? 😳😱

Road sign? 😳😱
Rebel that I am, I occasionally post Strange Digns that aren't to do with a road..., 😁
Such a rebel, even spells signs incorrectly
Marriot's Way - ? Believe the sign was put up when the bridge surface was of suspect quality. Since it's obviously been improved, seems it wasn't the workers responsibility to tell the council and no-one at the council has joined the dots. They spent an enormous amount of money on a big enamalled sign at each end of the bridge, but I couldn't find one aspect that made the bridge surface unsuitable.
Theres equally this one in Harrogate directing cyclists using a local cycle route to immediately dismount which everyone ignores; it leads to a bridge over the railway and Nidderdale Greenway.

York have on the A1237 bridge over the River Ouse and East Coast Mainline this slightly more proactive sign

Still gets ignored. Fundamentally a cyclist on a bike takes up less width than a cyclist wheeling a bike.
IMO dismount signs should be replaced by Cyclists take care when passing others unless their is a definate hazard ahead making dismounting neccessary. The A1237 shared path is not that wide and as the adjacent carriageway has what I refer to as bridleway lane edge to cyclists heading in the same direction as the adjcent road traffic might be better directed to use that. The road itself is meant to be dualled so hopefully improved facilities for cyclists and pedestrians will form part of that. The bridge is the first crossing point of the River Ouse for some distance from the north.
That second sign is nonsense, any sensible cyclist will slow down and warn other users of their presence. Especially if approaching for behind.
there will always be a minority of idiots who probably bomb down the path at unacceptable speeds when passing others. They just need educating to be more careful.
