Got a new Sony Vaio and I'm trying to get it to play a DVD. It came with Windows Media Player but every time I tried to play a DVD I got the message "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer I find this surprising and don't want to download some relatively unknown software, which is recomended to fix this problem. In addition all my videos are Quicktime files.
So I have downloaded Quicktime and deselected Windows Media Player as the default player for every kind of media then selected Quicktime. However the laptop is still insiting on trying to open DVDs with WMP, with the same result.
How do I get the laptop to use Quicktime as default player for everything? (It works fine now for videos.)
