Have been riding heavy 28's (Continental City Contacts) for the last few winters, to cope with the mud, pot holes and the state of our roads round our way. Usually switch to 23's when the weather warms up, but this winter, although I don't think we had any snow, the wet weather and water filled pot holes and debris over the roads seem to have gone on for ever.
And now, every road on my training loops seem to have been re-skimmed with fresh gravel, the type that stays around for months until the cars have flattened it. Real danger on corners where there is lots of loose gravel still.
Can't see me swapping my tyres over for another few weeks and then the nights will be drawing in so might even keep them on.
Still noticed the difference on my TT bike last night, riding my Race Pro2's (20mm's)
